Infectious skin diseases
mycoses, warts and parasitic infections

Infectious skin diseases include fungal infections (mycoses), viral infections (HPV-related warts and molluscum contagiosum) and parasitic infestations. Mycoses may affect the skin, scalp, folds and nails (pityriasis versicolor, groin fungal infections, athlete’s foot, tinea, onychomycosis) and require specific therapies according to the causative fungus. HPV infections are transmitted by direct contact and present as common warts, flat warts and genital warts (condylomata acuminata).

Parasitic diseases such as head lice, scabies and other mite infestations are caused by organisms living at the expense of the host, while molluscum contagiosum is a highly contagious virus producing small round papules, mainly in children but also in adults.

Therapeutic perspectives

At MAVIT, after a specialist dermatologic assessment and targeted tests when needed, treatment plans may include home-based topical or systemic therapies (antifungal, antiviral, antiparasitic) and in-office procedures such as CO₂ laser, cryotherapy and curettage for selected lesions (warts, molluscum, thickened fungal lesions). The aim is to clear the infection, reduce the risk of transmission and recurrence, and restore healthy skin, with clear advice on hygiene, prevention measures and management of family or sports contacts where appropriate.
