Earlobe reconstruction: torn or stretched lobes

Earlobe reconstruction is a procedure designed to restore the shape, size and, when needed, volume of the earlobe when it is torn, stretched by piercings or gauges, elongated or thinned by heavy earrings, or split (bifid lobe).

Treatment options

At MAVIT, treatment options include:
•    a mini-invasive surgical repair under local anaesthesia, performed on an outpatient basis and recommended for cut, fissured, stretched or split lobes. A thin strip of skin is removed around the tear, the edges are reshaped and closed with very fine sutures; the initial scar gradually fades over time.
•    a non-surgical aesthetic treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers when the main issue is loss of volume, thinning or lack of firmness: the lobe looks fuller, better supported and more regular, improving the support for earrings.
After reconstruction, patients are advised to wait at least one month before having the ear re-pierced and to avoid very heavy earrings to prevent new damage. The goal is to achieve a harmonious, well-proportioned earlobe, with minimal scarring and a natural result that allows earrings to be worn again safely.
