Cellulite (oedematous–fibrosclerotic panniculopathy) is not just a cosmetic concern: it involves the microcirculation, subcutaneous fat and dermal structure, causing orange peel skin, surface irregularities and sometimes a feeling of heaviness or swelling. It typically affects thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen, and may present as oedematous (fluid retention), fibrous (nodules, uneven surface) or sclerotic (deep dimples, occasionally painful). Hormonal factors, genetic predisposition, sedentary lifestyle, diet and smoking can all worsen its appearance.
