CO₂ Laser

The CO₂ laser is an ablative surgical laser that emits a carbon dioxide beam targeting the water contained in epidermal and superficial dermal cells. This energy is converted into heat and causes controlled vaporisation of the tissue, layer by layer, allowing very precise removal.

In dermatology, it is used to excise or vaporise benign and superficial skin lesions with excellent intraoperative bleeding control, even on delicate areas such as the face and eyelids. At MAVIT Clinic, CO₂ laser treatment is indicated for benign skin growths, warts, condylomas, fibromas and skin tags, selected angiomas, palpebral xanthelasmas, xanthomas and, in selected cases, seborrhoeic and actinic keratoses.

Therapeutic perspectives

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, usually under local anaesthesia or with topical anaesthetic, depending on the size and location of the lesion. After a thorough dermatologic assessment, the physician confirms the indication for laser treatment, evaluates whether histological examination is needed, explains healing times (crusting, temporary redness) and provides instructions on local care and sun protection.

The goal is to remove the lesion safely and precisely, preserving surrounding healthy skin as much as possible and achieving good cosmetic outcomes with appropriate recovery times.
