Lower limb ecocolordoppler is a non-invasive imaging test that uses a high-frequency probe to assess venous and arterial blood flow in the legs, vessel morphology and the presence of reflux, stenosis or thrombi.
It is a key exam in vascular medicine for evaluating venous insufficiency (varicose veins, spider veins, heavy legs), suspected venous thrombosis and peripheral arterial disease with pain or cramps on walking.
It is recommended when varicose veins, visible capillaries, swelling or a feeling of heavy legs are present, in cases of sudden painful swelling with redness suggesting thrombosis, and before sclerotherapy, venous surgery, vascular laser or body technologies in patients with circulatory issues. It is also used to monitor known venous or arterial conditions over time.
